If your ever feeling a bit sluggish and un-creative then what you need is a way to get those ideas flowing again. Nothing expensive is required and all you need is a small amount of spare time and a bit of common sence.

The first way to get some ideas coming to you is to make sure you’re awake. A good long sleep is what you need. The Minimum time to sleep should be about 7 and maximum about 8 hours. If you sleep for too long it will be just as bad if not worse than being over tired.

When your getting ready for you sleep make sure you don’t exercise within about 2 hours of bed time. Try not to eat near bed time. Alcohol is a big no no. It needs to be as natural as possible to be the most effective. You can watch TV or read a book before bed, but nothing that is too mentally stimulating or you will never get to sleep.

Once your rested up the suitable amount of time have a nice long warm [but not too hot] shower. No hot baths or you will get sleepy again! Even splashing your face with cold water will help a little bit.

If your still lost for ideas then the next thing to do is get out of the office or house if you can. Go for a walk or run and make sure you take a notepad or note keeping device with you for when you get struck by that genius idea. Any exercise helps but it’s not as easy to stop and note things down in a pool or on a bike!

Go somewhere inspiring, whether it’s on your walk out the office or you have a spare Saturday. Go somewhere that will make you think or will give you the space and quiet to think.

As a general rule just try to keep yourself awake and mentally stimulated as much of the time as possible. Remember it’s better to take a 5 minute break and get some perspective on what you are trying to achieve than sit staring at a piece of paper for hours with no result.
